Quickbows for 2011

The end of the year sees me field testing several bows  in preparation for running Firefox quickbow-making courses in 2011.These bows are not lovingly crafted from Yew, Lemonwood or Osage Orange but banged out from  the unpromising ranks of Hazel, Willow and Norway Maple. They can take a weekend from freshly felled or a day for seasoned wood, the idea is that make a bow quick with minimum energy expenditure that can hit a rabbit-sized target from at least 20 yards.

A budget solution for a portable field archery target occurred to me-enter Steve the hare

Born of Hazelwood, hessian and raffia, stuffed with supermarket carrier bags and old rags he’s got  great stopping power and stuffs into a rucksack after a session.

Join Firefox in 2011 for quickbow making courses, see you in the woods.
